Flimsy Finished

Near the beginning of June I started a quilt
which I called Windmills or Winter ???
(Both are in Cultural Fusion Quilts.)
Because I was going on a quilt retreat with my guild,
I imagined how I thought it would look & tried a couple of test blocks.
They were okay so I cut the pieces out in advance.
This is not how I usually work & as I made more & more blocks,
I liked the top less & less.
So I put it aside for a while & then started up again,
& now I like what I've made
and look forward to finishing it.

This top is inspired by Sujata's
To me it seems to be somewhere between Windmills & Winter.

  1. I really love the values and the movement of the values. I love all the fabrics and all the different textures. It is really a splendid, sophisticated work. Congratulations!

  2. I think it turned out wonderfully!

And I completely understand falling in love, then out of love, then back into love/like/satisfied-with as a quilt top evolves.

  3. Beautiful with the gradation from light to dark and the pink used in the right place in the right amount, just right!

  6. Most quilts that I spend a lot of time with have a period where I dislike them........then they start to come together and usually I really like how they turn out in the end.

  7. I am also like you, very rarely I work on a project with already picked out fabrics. Also one of the reasons retreats are not as much fun to pack for but eventually I end up adding more to whatever I am working with from my stash when I get back home. I love the texture and addition of a bit of color in this quilt. It turned out beautiful!

  9. I love this, the soft colours and gradation, I think Winter a perfect title! know just where you're coming from with the like it/don't like it scenario as I had the same problem with my Rail Fence.
I am back in "don't like it" camp with mine!!
