Near the beginning of June I started a quilt
which I called Windmills or Winter ???
(Both are in Cultural Fusion Quilts.)
Because I was going on a quilt retreat with my guild,
I imagined how I thought it would look & tried a couple of test blocks.
They were okay so I cut the pieces out in advance.
This is not how I usually work & as I made more & more blocks,
I liked the top less & less.
So I put it aside for a while & then started up again,
& now I like what I've made
and look forward to finishing it.
This top is inspired by Sujata's
To me it seems to be somewhere between Windmills & Winter.
I really love the values and the movement of the values. I love all the fabrics and all the different textures. It is really a splendid, sophisticated work. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteI think it turned out wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteAnd I completely understand falling in love, then out of love, then back into love/like/satisfied-with as a quilt top evolves.
Beautiful with the gradation from light to dark and the pink used in the right place in the right amount, just right!
ReplyDeleteI think its wonderful, I often fall out of love with a work in progress. "Winter" is next up for my Cultural Fusion quilts. Thank you for sharing your quilt with us
ReplyDeleteYea! Beautiful. I love how those little bits of pink give it softness.
ReplyDeleteMost quilts that I spend a lot of time with have a period where I dislike them........then they start to come together and usually I really like how they turn out in the end.
ReplyDeleteI am also like you, very rarely I work on a project with already picked out fabrics. Also one of the reasons retreats are not as much fun to pack for but eventually I end up adding more to whatever I am working with from my stash when I get back home. I love the texture and addition of a bit of color in this quilt. It turned out beautiful!
ReplyDeleteVery nice gradation from light to dark. Like everyone else, I love your restrained bits of soft pink. Congratulations on a beautiful finish.
ReplyDeleteI love this, the soft colours and gradation, I think Winter a perfect title! know just where you're coming from with the like it/don't like it scenario as I had the same problem with my Rail Fence.
ReplyDeleteI am back in "don't like it" camp with mine!!
Beautiful! I love the tonal quality and shift from light to dark.
ReplyDeleteI only saw this quilt on the tiny screen of my phone. So happy to see it her eon big screen. I imagine it looks even more beautiful in person! Margaret, this is an excellent rendition of Winter!
