Flower Garden - The Quilt

The Lattice quilt top that I made earlier this year
as a class sample has been quilted and finished.

The quilt is currently being laundered so
it can be sent tomorrow to one of my former attorneys
who is in hospice care due to an aggressive cancer.

This is the center of the quilt's scrappy backing.

Quilted with liberated free motion (unmarked)
Baptist Fans using Glide's Mocha thread.

Bound in a medium blue stripe.

I hope Flower Garden brings him and his family comfort.

  2. Oh, it is just so lovely! I have one of these started in a bag, but I love your fabric more. Quilts have an incredible effect on the recipient- I have seen it over and over and sometimes I am privileged to hear about it. Flower Garden is a powerful quilt.

    1. Thank you, Linda -- sadly, the man passed away about 36 hours after the quilt's arrival. One of his daughters let me know that his wife loves the quilt and the memories attached to it which makes me so very glad I sent it.

  3. I seem to forget to come along and read the posts over here, nor post myself! I'm pleased that you do have two posts here this month, both beautiful and your latest one, Flower Garden, is a treat!
I must remember to post some of my quilts which are relevant to the spirit of this blog begun by Sujata. Things seem to have gotten very quiet, perhaps I'll post my latest Memory Quilt tomorrow!

  4. First, that top is awesome. So many happy colors! The backing and the quilting both compliment your gorgeous top. It's sad that the receiver passed away so soon after its arrival, but I'm certain the family will always think of him when they see the quilt. It's bound to be a comfort to them.

  7. Julie, I love seeing all the prints in this quilt. You have created quite the melody of summer prints and textures. I keep wanting a design wall project. Of course right now I have to move room to room to sew anything but you have inspired me to get back to freeform blocks. xo
