My take on Organised Chaos

A little while ago in a post/comment exchange with Sujata,
I was just starting on a kaleidoscope quilt
inspired by Sujata's Organised Chaos and she asked if
I would post updates to the blog.

One more block to go, then arrange to my satisfaction
and add the corners.

Some of the blocks have very little contrast between
the light and dark pieces, that's intentional, I have
in mind creating a likeness to an old Persian rug.

Hopefully not too long before more progress is made!

  1. I like the areas of low contrast because it plays off the other contrasty areas and gives the quilt a cohesive look.

    1. Hopefully it will still have a cohesive look when I fill in the with the triangles.

  3. Maureen,

Your blocks look pretty with all the colors. When you add the corners, it will give you yet another chance to play with contrast. What fun! It does look like a rich Persian rug!

    1. Thanks Sujata - I've been plating for two days non-stop and have come to the conclusion that given the way I have used my fabrics to get the feel of a rug I need to rethink the corners - a work in progress!

  5. I now have this pattern and have started pulling fabrics (leftovers and trimmings from previous quilts) for one of my 2017 projects. Persian Rug - what a great inspiration point.

    1. Thanks Heidi - I feel I've managed to create the feel of a rug, when I have the corners in let's hope it still has that look!
